As a trusted provider, we are proud that we make every effort to improve the quality of life for people with Parkinson’s. Families all over London have trusted us to provide care for their loved ones. We are constantly evolving our care to meet changing needs.

Many people find that moving away from their home can be stressful, worrying, and even confusing. People who are moving into a care home or specialist setting, or have to stay for a long time in hospital, may feel anxious about following a set of rules.

You can stay at home and receive specialist Parkinson’s homecare services. This allows you to continue living your life as normal while still receiving one-on-one care from a caring caregiver who will make a positive impact on your life. You will have a better quality of life and enhanced well-being because they will effectively manage your care.

Understanding Parkinson's Disease

Parkinson’s disease, a progressive neurological condition, is caused by the loss of dopamine-producing cells in the brain. The brain cells that produce dopamine allow messages to be sent to areas responsible for movement and coordination. These cells are less common, which causes problems related to movement.

There are 145,000 Parkinson’s patients in the UK. It affects both adults and children as early as 50 and later. About one in 20 people will first experience symptoms after the age of 40. Parkinson’s disease is slightly more common in men than it is in women.

Parkinson’s is a condition in which brain cells stop working properly and the brain’s ability produce dopamine dramatically decreases. Dopamine is a chemical that controls movement within the body. Parkinson’s symptoms include uncontrollable and adverse movement, such as shaking or tremors.

Parkinson’s disease can also manifest as:

Muscle stiffness or rigidity

Slowness in movement

Memory problems

Speech difficulties

Inadequacy of coordination and balance

Depression and anxiety.

Unfortunately, there is no cure for Parkinson’s disease. However, there are some treatments that can help reduce symptoms and improve your quality of life. These include medication, supportive therapies, and surgery like deep brain stimulation.

Uppercare offers a range of support and care services that will allow you to live a fulfilled and happy life in the comfort and safety of your home. We will provide Parkinson’s home care services that are tailored to your specific needs. This gives you control over your life and the support you need.

Our clients and their families work together to create a comprehensive care and support plan that accurately addresses their holistic needs. We are well-informed to ensure continuity of care. This allows us to respond quickly and efficiently to changing care needs.

Our carers will have the ability to fully understand Parkinson’s disease, and its progression and provide support. The carers will be flexible in caring for Parkinson’s patients, taking into account the unpredictable nature of their symptoms. Our carers are trained to manage complex medication regimens. This will ensure that symptoms are managed effectively. Our carers will help you maintain a healthy diet, and work with your physiotherapist to encourage and support you in your exercise program.

We will work with other healthcare professionals to make recommendations about any equipment that you might need to help you live at home.

We know that people with Parkinson’s who require help at home are more likely to feel low self-esteem, and many suffer from depression. Not only can our carers meet your needs, but they are also available to support you psychologically and emotionally. Through gentle encouragement and supportive support, they are proactive in building self-esteem.
